The city rose to economic and cultural pre-eminence under the Medici House in the 15th and 16th century. The Medici family greatly influenced the growth of the Italian Renaissance through their patronage of the arts and humanism, sponsoring philosophers and artists such as Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. The last of the House of Medici was able to leave the family’s intense collection of art treasures to Tuscany, on the condition that it never leaves Florence. Adaptable Travel are able to arrange personal itineraries based on the requests of individual groups, please see below a popular example of an Art & Design itinerary for study trips to Florence:

Your group will arrive in the beautiful city of Florence to check-in to your hotel. Depending on flight times your group can take part in a guided tour of Florence, your group will be taken around some of the most popular sites in Florence such as The Duomo and Piazalle Michelangelo (we can arrange the tour to suit your preference). After taking in the sites, your group can sit down together for an evening meal before returning back to your hotel.

Fly from the UK to Florence.
Meet coach and transfer to coach drop off point in Pietra Santina (20 mins walk from the famous Leaning Tower).
Free time in Pisa (self-led) to explore the historic centre, including the famous Leaning Tower and Piazza dei Miracoli.
Return to the coach drop off point to meet coach, continue coach transfer to Florence.
Check into accommodation in Florence.
Enjoy your evening meal at local restaurant (2-course).

On your first morning, after breakfast, your group will visit the Accademia Gallery where you can view the spectacular sculptures by the great Renaissance artist Michelangelo and much more. Next, your group will take a 10-minute walk to the Brancacci Chapel, here your group will be able to view some of the most influential and important paintings created. Lunchtime, why not enjoy a meal near to some of Florence’s beautiful fountains such as the Fountain of Neptune?

Breakfast at your accommodation.

Make your way around Florence on foot or public transport (not included, purchase locally if required). You can also choose to add in coach hire at a supplement if preferred.

Make your way to the Galileo Museum for pre-booked self-guided visit. The museum showcases Galileo’s original telescopes and a remarkable collection of historic scientific instruments tracing centuries of discovery.
Lunch (not included – own arrangement). Free time for lunch nearby – plenty of cafés and bakeries in the area.
3 -hour guided walking tour. Beginning at Piazza Carosel, this 3-hour Florence walking tour takes in the Duomo’s stunning exterior, the Baptistery’s “Gates of Paradise,” and Giotto’s Campanile. You’ll stroll down Via Calzaiuoli to Piazza della Sign.oria with its statues and Palazzo Vecchio, pass through the Uffizi Courtyard, and cross the Ponte Vecchio over the Arno. End with sweeping city views from Piazzale Michelangelo.
Enjoy your evening meal at local restaurant (2-course).

On your third day, after breakfast, you will make your way to the Boboli Gardens. This fantastic open-air museum offers beautiful views along with a collection of sculptures and fountains dating from the 16th century to the 18th century. Free time for lunch, why not enjoy a picnic in the Boboli Gardens? Once your group have finished lunch you will head over to the Uffizi Gallery. This gallery houses many works from famous artists such as Leonardo da Vinci. Your group will enjoy an evening meal and then head back to the hotel

Visit the Uffizi Museum for a guided tour to see the world’s greatest collections of Renaissance art, featuring masterpieces by artists such as Botticelli, Michelangelo, and Leonardo da Vinci.

Visit Galleria Dell Accademia - is home to Michelangelo’s iconic statue of David and an impressive collection of Renaissance art.
Enjoy your evening meal at local restaurant (2-course).

After your breakfast, you will be checking out. Depending on your return flight time, your group will have free time for your own programme or you could enjoy a trip to the Leaning Tower of Pisa!

Breakfast at your accommodation and check out of accommodation. (Hotel can assist with luggage storage).
Depending on flight timings, you may have free time to enjoy some last-minute sightseeing and shopping at Mercato Centrale (central Market).
Meet coach and transfer to Pisa airport.
