Palazzo Vecchio (Old Palace)

Built in 1299 by Arnolfo di Cambio, the Romanesque, crenellated fortress-palace is the town hall of Florence and is among the most impressive town halls in Tuscanny. Originally known as Palazzo della Signoria, after the Signoria of Florence, the Palazzo Vecchio has been given several other names - Palazzo del Popolo, Palazzo dei Priori, and Palazzo Ducale in accordance to the use of the Palace over its long history.
