Berlin - German MFL

• Fly from the UK to Berlin. 
• Coach transfer to your accommodation, with a meet and greet on arrival and guide assistance (guides can speak English or German for full language immersion). End of coach hire.  

Make your way around Berlin using your inclusive public transport passes.  You can  also choose to add in coach hire at a supplement if preferred. 

• Depending on your flight times, spend the afternoon (self-led) exploring the history and culture of this wonderful city, famous sights include the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag building, Checkpoint Charlie and the Berlin Wall. You may wish to use your included E3 German language trail this afternoon. 
• Evening meal at your accommodation (2-course).

• Enjoy a morning visit to the famous Olympic Stadium for a guided tour in German or English – discover the legacy of this iconic stadium, originally built for the 1936 Olympic Games. 
• Head to Alexanderplatz and explore Berlin’s bustling city square, followed by a trip up the TV Tower for panoramic views of the city. 

Free time for lunch in Alexanderplatz – students can choose from a wide range of cafés and restaurants. Lunch (not included – own arrangement).  

• This afternoon head to Charlottenburg Palace for a guided tour, the largest palace in the city and a window into Berlin’s royal past (guides can speak English or German for full language immersion). 
• Traditional Bavarian dinner at Hofbräu Wirtshaus. 
• Round off the day with a fun and active evening at a local bowling alley (2 games of bowling included).

• Visit the East Side Gallery, on the banks of the Spree in Friedrichshain. This open-air gallery is the longest surviving stretch of the Berlin Wall. Once the wall came down, 118 artists from 21 countries began painting the East Side Gallery.  
• Head to the neighbouring Markthalle Neun food market for a 45-minute guided tour. Students will learn about the vibrant food culture in Berlin and immerse themselves in the sights, smells and sounds of the market.  

Optional extra – For a supplement, you may wish to add a tasting experience to this guided tour which includes regional specialties such as baked bread, cheeses, hams, pasta and baklava. Alternatively, enjoy free time for lunch inside the market – a great opportunity for students to try authentic Berlin Street food and to put their German language skills into practice. Lunch (not included – own arrangement). 

• In the afternoon, your students will have the opportunity to learn more about the impact of the Berlin Wall on Berlin’s urban landscape and its residents’ lives at the Berlin Wall Memorial. There are various guided tours and workshops available in German or English. 
• Evening meal at your accommodation (2-course). 
• Evening visit to the Reichstag roof top terrace and glass dome to view the city at night. Complimentary audio guides (in German or English) are provided for commentary as you walk up the glass dome spiral ramp (schools must book their free online visit slot directly).
