Granada - Spanish MFL School Trips
Bespoke School Trips to
Granada
A Granada school trip gives your Spanish group language immersion with a genuine Andalusian accent, the kind they will not have met on a textbook recording. It is the real thing, spoken at speed.
The Alhambra and the Generalife gardens are the reason most people come to Granada, and a guided tour of them is worth the trip on its own. Sacromonte Abbey adds the holy caves and catacombs. At the Mercado San Agustin your students order and buy for themselves, with your guide alongside working in Spanish or English as you prefer. A tapas walking tour and a flamenco evening fill out the rest.
Granada is as authentic as Spanish destinations get, and it works just as well as a first language trip as it does for a group who already have some confidence. The self-guided E3 Language Trail is where that shows, with students working through the city in their own small groups.
Your tour is ATOL protected and every supplier that touches the trip is TourTrust audited. Tell us your dates and year group and we will build the trip around them.

FAQs for
Granada - Spanish MFL School Trips
Granada offers a genuine Andalusian accent, spoken at speed, which is not what students will have met on a textbook recording. The Alhambra and Generalife gardens are worth the trip on their own, and Sacromonte Abbey adds the holy caves and catacombs. At the Mercado San Agustin students order and buy for themselves with your guide alongside, working in Spanish or English as you prefer. A tapas walking tour and a flamenco evening fill out the rest. It works as a first language trip as well as for groups who already have some confidence.
Language immersion means your students use the language in ordinary situations rather than only in lessons. Guides can work in the target language, in English, or switch between the two, and the same applies to walking tours, so you set the level. Market visits, tapas tours and food halls put students in front of people they need to order from, and the included E3 language trail sends them out in small groups to work through tasks around the city. You decide how much of the trip runs in the target language, and it can be increased as the group grows in confidence.
Yes. Structured lessons in a classroom setting can be built in alongside the visits, taught by teachers used to working with UK school groups. The number of lessons is entirely up to you, and some groups include none at all, preferring the language to come through the visits themselves. Lessons work well on longer trips and with groups who want a measurable outcome from the week. Tell us what you have in mind when you enquire and we will build the balance you want.
The E3 language trail is a self-guided booklet of tasks that sends your students out around the city in small groups. They read signage, ask questions and complete activities in the target language without a teacher translating for them, which builds confidence quickly. It is included at no extra cost on the trips that feature it, and works alongside the guided visits rather than replacing them.
Every trip is built around your group rather than sold as a fixed package. A typical MFL trip covers return travel, accommodation on a half board basis, transport and transfers, entrance to the visits you choose, and guides where they are needed. The itinerary shown on this page is a suggestion, so visits can be swapped, added or dropped, and structured language lessons can be included if you want them. Travel insurance is available as an optional supplement rather than being built into the price.
The autumn and spring terms are the sensible choice. Granada sits inland at altitude, so summers are hot and the Alhambra is uncomfortable and heavily booked, while September to November and February to April give much better conditions for a full day there. Alhambra tickets are released ahead and sell out, so early enquiry matters more here than at most destinations. Winter is cold with snow on the Sierra Nevada behind the city, which many groups find striking.
The main consideration on a language trip is the self-guided element. Where students work through the E3 trail or buy their own lunch in a market, they do so in small groups with clear meeting points, timings and staff positioned nearby, rather than being left to their own devices. Guides are used at the visits that call for one. Every supplier we use is audited through TourTrust, our own safety management system, and you receive a risk assessment handbook and supplier safety information in one pack, along with a 24 hour support line while your group is away.
Senior leadership will usually want the curriculum rationale, the safety arrangements and the financial protection. Every supplier is audited through TourTrust and you receive a risk assessment handbook and supplier safety information in one pack, so most of what gets asked is already documented. Adaptable Travel is an ABTA member, membership number Y1241, flight-inclusive trips are ATOL protected, and we have been arranging educational trips since 1994. On a language trip it also helps to set out how much of the itinerary runs in the target language, which we can put in writing for you.
