La Calahorra Castle

Show all photos
La Calahorra Castle is an early 16th-century fortress perched on a hill overlooking the plains of Guadix in the province of Granada. One of the first Renaissance castles built in Spain, it combines robust military architecture with Italianate interior design. A school visit offers pupils a chance to explore the architectural features, strategic location, and historical context of the castle, while enjoying sweeping views of the surrounding landscape.
