For a college trip with great educational value the WWI battlefields of Ypres and The Somme are ideal college trip destinations for pupils looking to gain an understanding of the events of 1914-1918, and experience the conditions of soldiers in trenches.

The impact and significance of World War 1 is the foundation of most modern history courses and our First World War school trips are a great way for pupils to experience first-hand what they are being taught in the classroom by taking learning outside the classroom.Subject focus:• KS 3-5: Show the conditions of the soldiers in the trenches of World War I• KS 3-5: Examine the effects of historical trends and events on ordinary people• KS 3-5: Understand how people respond to traumatic events• KS 3-5: Recognise the role of World War I in influencing later events Battlefield trips also offer a great MFL opportunity too, offering language immersion.

Our tours are of great educational value and tie within the standard requirements of the National curriculum. Students can develop their understanding of the events leading up to and during WWI by visiting the many battlefield sites, memorials and cemeteries in the Somme and Ypres areas.
