Arrival and the spa

Lavey-les-Bains and the Bex Salt Mines.

After arriving in Switzerland by air, and subject to flight times, you will transfer to the Lavey-les-Bains spa with free time to relax in the mineral-rich waters of this naturally heated geothermal spa, with outdoor pools surrounded by the mountains. You may also have time to visit the Bex Salt Mines nearby, where an audio-visual installation takes you through centuries of the mine's history, before heading to your accommodation to check in and enjoy your evening meal.

Glacial landforms

The Langgletscher Glacier.

Today your students will explore glacial landforms at the Langgletscher Glacier. With coach and guide you will head to the glacier to explore the UNESCO World Heritage forefield of this huge glacier, which lies within the largest valley on the northern side of the Swiss Rhone valley, the Lotschental.

Cheese and chocolate

Gruyere and Maison Cailler.

Today you will travel to the nearby village of Gruyere to tour the famous Maison du Gruyere cheese factory, where students learn how the cheese is made through an interactive exhibition, with tasting of course. You can then visit the nearby Maison Cailler Chocolate Factory, before returning to your accommodation for an evening meal, with the option of adding a visit to the local bowling alley in Chateau-d'Oex.

Glacier 3000

Cable car and the Peak Walk.

After breakfast you will visit Glacier 3000. After a double cable car ride to the top, your guide will lead students on a tour showcasing tourism and glacial landforms. Those brave enough can walk across the Peak Walk suspension bridge, with views of Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn, Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau. At the summit you can also add on the Snow Bus snowcat ride, the Alpine Coaster and free sledging.

The journey home

Free time and a lake cruise.

You may have some free time before your return to the UK. If you do, you could travel via Lake Geneva en route to the airport and enjoy a Lake Geneva boat cruise.
