Really great trip. The Vieux Chalet was brilliant place for us to stay, beautiful village, great host (Andre) and the day trips we did in Switzerland were great (Glacier 3000, Cheese visit, Dam). Great trip.

It is possible to travel by coach or air from the UK to Switzerland. For this itinerary, we recommend travel by coach.

DAY 1 & 2:
Travel by coach from your institute. You will be based in the Alpine ski resort of Leysin or Chateau-d’Oex.

DAY 3:
Today you will focus on the classification and characteristics of industry, with a visit to Bex Salt Mine in the primary sector and Cailler Chocolate Factory in the secondary sector.

DAY 4:
In the morning travel by coach to the alpine village of Les diablerets for a ramble along the Grand Eau river to investigate river processes and floodplain management.  In the afternoon, head over to the Berneuse Mountains to consider the mountain environment; its formation, land uses and hazards.

DAY 5:
Visit the Langgletscher glacier, a UNESCO World heritage site.  Today’s visit will allow students to study a classic glacial valley with its typical glacial landforms and unique ecology.  There is an opportunity to go glacier walking with guide and special equipment to get up-close with the glacier.

DAY 6 & 7:
Depart accommodation and travel overnight to return back to your institute.
