The capital of Italy, Rome, is a vibrant cosmopolitan city which has been at the centre of the Roman Catholic faith for over two millennia. It attracts millions of tourists each year and is often regarded as the world's most beautiful ancient city.
As Rome is home to Vatican City, the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church, as well as other iconic religious sights, it is the perfect destination for students studying religion to gain a greater understanding of beliefs, practices, teachings and sources of wisdom and authority. On some occasions, students may have the opportunity to attend an audience with Pope Francis, who does formal appearances every week.
The city contains vast amounts of priceless works of art, historical buildings, monuments and ruins of the Roman Forum, palaces, museums, churches, basilicas, temples, piazzas and other captivating venues in general, giving students groups plenty to explore and a memorable experience which will last with them for many years to come.
