Arrival and a canal cruise

Fly to Amsterdam and check in.

You will fly from the UK to Amsterdam and transfer by coach to your hotel to check in. Throughout the tour you will travel on foot or by public transport, with coach hire available at a supplement.

A traditional canal boat cruise.

As an introduction you will enjoy a canal boat cruise, seeing historical landmarks and interfaith sites from the water.

An evening meal.

You will have a two-course evening meal at a local restaurant. An optional evening lecture from a guest speaker on Jewish history, the Holocaust and moral responses to persecution can be added (enquire for the supplement).

Day 2

The Jewish Quarter and beyond

A guided walking tour of the Jewish Quarter.

With a full-day guide you will take a guided walking tour of the Jewish Quarter, including the Portuguese Synagogue, the Jewish Historical Museum and the Hollandsche Schouwburg, a Holocaust memorial and former theatre.

The Dutch Resistance Museum.

You will continue to the Dutch Resistance Museum to explore moral choice, resistance and religious persecution under Nazi rule.

Our Lord in the Attic.

You will then head to Our Lord in the Attic Museum, a hidden Catholic church, to learn about religious suppression during the Reformation.

An evening meal.

You will have a two-course evening meal at a local restaurant.

Day 3

Camp Vught and the Anne Frank House

A guided visit to Camp Vught.

You will travel by coach to the Camp Vught Memorial for a guided tour of this Second World War camp, with exhibits on persecution and survival.

The Anne Frank House.

Back in central Amsterdam you will visit the Anne Frank House to explore the Secret Annex and Holocaust education exhibits.

An evening meal.

You will have a two-course evening meal at a local restaurant.

Day 4

Jewish heritage and home

The Portuguese Synagogue and Jewish Historical Museum.

After breakfast and check out you will return to the Portuguese Synagogue and Jewish Historical Museum for a deeper exploration of Jewish rituals, beliefs and heritage.

The journey home.

You will then meet your coach and transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
