Basilica St Mary Major
Another of the four patriarchal churches of Rome, Santa Maria Maggiore, has beautiful 5th century Biblical mosaics. It has marble floors, a bell tower, mosaics and its spectacular ceiling is said to be decorated with gold Columbus brought back from the new world.
