This trip gives students a profound and respectful understanding of a number of key history and religious education topics, including:
- Holocaust and World War II history.
- Jewish persecution
Through guided visits to Auschwitz-Birkenau, the Jewish Quarter, and Schindler’s Factory, students can explore the impact of Nazi occupation, Jewish persecution, and the resilience of Krakow’s community. It is a powerful experience that supports GCSE and A-Level history, RS, and citizenship studies.
Your group will take part in a full-day guided tour of Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II-Birkenau with an official local guide. The visit includes headsets to ensure all students can hear the commentary clearly. The tour provides historical context while maintaining a respectful tone throughout.
Where possible, we arrange for groups to meet a Holocaust survivor or a relative at the Galicia Jewish Museum. Availability varies, so this is confirmed at the time of booking.
The Auschwitz-Birkenau visit is deeply moving and may be challenging for some students. We recommend it for Key Stage 4 and above, though individual schools can decide based on their students’ maturity and emotional readiness. Teachers will receive guidance and resources to help prepare students before and after the visit.
