Podgorze Wartime Jewish Ghetto Tour

Podgorze Wartime Jewish Ghetto Tour

Located across the Vistula River from Wawel Catsle, Podgorze initially a quiet neighbourhood was transformed into a Jewish ghetto during World War II. From 1941 until 1943, an estimated 60,000 Jews were packed into an area of 20 hectares until March 1943 when the ghetto was liquidated resulting in thousands of the ghetto residents either being shot or sent off to nearby concentration camps.

Now redeveloped and restored to its former self, Podgorze is home to the memorial monument for the murdered Jews of the Podgorze ghetto located at Plac Bothaterow Getta.
