Show all photos

Located in the town Wieliczka in Southern Poland, Wieliczka Salt Mine is one of the oldest working Salt Mines in the World and has been producing table salt for over 700 years.

Pupils will explore a network of tunnels, chambers, and chapels carved entirely from salt, guided by knowledgeable staff who bring the mine’s stories to life.

This visit provides a hands-on look at historical industry, natural resources, and engineering. It helps pupils understand the role of salt in regional trade and economy, while also appreciating the artistic and cultural value of the mine’s interior.

Important Information for Group Leaders

  • Comfortable footwear is recommended due to walking and stairs
  • The mine maintains a consistent underground temperature of around 14°C
