This intruiging and historic town offers an opportunity to visit the place where Shakespeare penned his famous work, with visits including Shakespeare’s birth place, Halls Croft, Nashes House and much more. You can learn, explore and walk in the same footsteps of the great William Shakespeare.

Travel and Shakespeare's Stratford

Holy Trinity Church, the Birthplace and New Place.

You will depart school by coach, with students advised to bring a packed lunch for the journey. On arrival in Stratford-upon-Avon your coach will drop off at Holy Trinity Church, the site of Shakespeare's baptism and burial, where you can view his grave and memorial for an inspiring start to the trip. Using your Shakespeare's Story Ticket, you will visit Shakespeare's Birthplace to explore the house where he was born and gain an insight into his early life and family, then walk to New Place, the site of his final home, now a beautiful garden with contemporary sculptures celebrating his legacy. You will then transfer to your accommodation to check in and enjoy a two-course evening meal.

An RSC performance.

In the evening you will attend a live Royal Shakespeare Company performance at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, a professional production offering a powerful insight into Shakespeare's works on stage, before returning by coach to your accommodation.

The RSC and the journey home

Backstage tour and workshop.

After breakfast and check out you will transfer to the RSC for a backstage tour and a workshop with Royal Shakespeare Company professionals. This engaging, practical drama session focuses on a specific Shakespeare play and is tailored to your students' age, abilities and learning objectives, offering a hands-on exploration of Shakespeare's language and performance techniques. You will then have free time for lunch, with a variety of shops in the town centre and Bancroft Gardens by the river a lovely spot to eat.

Anne Hathaway's Cottage and home.

You will depart Stratford and travel home via Anne Hathaway's Cottage, the charming thatched cottage where Shakespeare's wife spent her childhood, before meeting your coach for the return journey to school.
