Shakespeare's Birthplace Trust

This historic site has been welcoming visitors for over 250 years and is a rare and tantalising glimpse into the early life of William Shakespeare.
Step into the world of William Shakespeare, explore the home where the world’s most famous playwright was born and grew up, and learn about life in Tudor England. The house has been carefully restored and includes a glove-maker’s workshop, historic rooms, and a beautiful heritage garden. Interactive displays and live interpretations help bring Shakespeare’s story to life, creating an enriching and memorable experience for students.
Anne Hathaway’s Cottage was the childhood home of Shakespeare’s future wife and has stood for over 500 years. Although it has been extended over time, many original features remain. Inside, visitors can see authentic period furniture, including the famous Hathaway bed, and explore the stories of the Hathaway family, who lived here across 13 generations.
