Below is a sample itinerary, in order for you to get an idea for what our most popular trips entail. If you are interested in planning your own school trip to York get in touch with a member of our friendly, expert team, today!

Depart your school and travel to York via coach. Upon your arrival in York, your group will transfer to your hotel and check-in. If check-in is not yet available, luggage storage should be available. Once you have checked in and left your luggage at the hotel your group will visit the Yorkshire Museum, where they have some excellent exhibitions relating to British history, including a brilliant insight into Roman York. After this, your students can visit the scenic Museum Gardens home to the Multangular Tower, the best-preserved example of Roman architecture in the city. Lastly, you and your students will enjoy an evening meal at your accommodation, before some free time in the evening.

Depart school by coach. Students are advised to bring a packed lunch for the journey.
Visit York Minster, one of the largest and most magnificent cathedrals in Northern Europe, famous for its stunning stained-glass windows and gothic architecture.
Head over to the Museum Gardens to eat your lunch (not included).
Enjoy a York City Cruise Boat Trip, for a relaxing guided tour along the River Ouse offering scenic views of York’s historic skyline and landmarks.
Check into your accommodation.
Enjoy a two-course evening meal served at your accommodation.

After breakfast, your group will travel to some of the best Roman sites in the North East, for a day trip exploring these unique spots. First, your group will visit Vindolanda, a fantastic Roman fort, and museum along the route of Hadrian’s Wall in modern-day Hexham. After exploring this fort and breaking for some lunch, your group has the option of visiting nearby Hadrian’s Wall or traveling to another key site in Roman Britain, Arbeia Roman Fort in South Shields. At the end of an exciting day exploring these sites, you and your students will travel back down to York by coach. Upon your ar

Breakfast at your accommodation and pick up your packed lunch
Visit JORVIK Viking Centre & DIG (includes workshop), for an immersive experience bringing Viking age York to life with reconstructed streets, sights, sounds, and smells. DIG offers a hands-on archaeology experience. Your group will also enjoy your own educational work-shop.
Enjoy your packed lunch at Jorvik.
In the afternoon, visit York Castle Museum, where students can immerse themselves in over 400 years of York’s past.
Then head to Clifford’s Tower (booked direct only, FOC) offering panoramic views over York and insights into medieval life.
Enjoy a two-course evening meal served at your accommodation.
Coach transfer to Bowling Evening, for 2 games of bowling.
Transfer back to accommodation.

After breakfast, your group will travel to nearby Murton Park Museum, where you will enjoy an immersive Roman Day. During this visit, your students will dress up as Roman Soldiers and take part in hands-on activities exploring daily Roman life. After this, it’s time to head back to school, traveling back via coach.

Breakfast and pick up packed lunch. Check-out and load luggage onto coach.
Visit York’s Chocolate Story (including workshop) and discover the city's rich chocolate-making history. Learn how chocolate is made and enjoy an interactive workshop.
Eat packed lunch on arrival at National Railway Museum.
Visit National Railway Museum (including workshop, FOC). Home to iconic locomotives and interactive exhibits showcasing the history of rail travel.
Depart York and return to school.
