York Roman Baths Museum

Show all photos
In a guided visit, descend beneath York’s St Sampson’s Square to explore the remains of a Roman bath complex where legionaries once washed, socialised and relaxed over 1,700 years ago.
The site takes you around the warm, hot and cold rooms of the baths, with signage and displays explaining how the bathing process worked and why such facilities were an important part of Roman urban life in Eboracum.
As you walk the modern steel walkways suspended over the archaeological remains, students encounter real features of the baths and learn about the people who built and used them.
