Normandy undoubtedly gets full marks as a school trip destination and quite possibly ranks as the perfect destination for school groups. As a region Normandy offers something for every group and a chance to experience traditional French culture, history and of course its amazing cuisine! Normandy boasts a wealth of cultural and historical significance and has sustained a remarkable reputation for local produce and cuisine making it a rewarding, unique and engaging experience for primary students.
Groups can explore history in context and develop an understanding for events which have taken place in Normandy and went on to shape the history of Britain and Europe. An obvious example of this is the dramatic D-Day invasion, one of the most famous incidents of World War II, which students can explore from the very location it occurred some 100 years ago. Other historical sites of significance in the region include the home of William the conqueror and Claude Monet’s former residence.
Normandy’s array of experiences doesn’t stop at educational visits but also includes a great selection of leisure and enrichment opportunities in the region such as, Chocolatrium Michel Cluizel and Biotropica la Serre Zoologique. Alongside experiences and activities groups can also indulge in a relaxing visit to one of the many golden beaches dotted along this breath-taking coastline.
