Zaanse Schans Windmill Village

Step into traditional Dutch life at Zaanse Schans, a historic working neighbourhood on the banks of the River Zaan, just 20 minutes north of Amsterdam. Students can explore a picturesque landscape of historic wooden buildings, working windmills, traditional crafts, museums and shops, discovering how the Zaan region developed into an important centre of trade and industry.
Groups can also visit attractions such as the Zaans Museum, which explores the region's industrial heritage, shipbuilding, whaling and food industries.
Admission to the Zaanse Schans is free, allowing groups to explore the historic village, traditional crafts, shops, landscapes and exterior of the famous windmills. Additional charges apply for entry to some windmills and museums.
