Viking World Museum in Reykjanesbær, is dedicated to Norse history and Iceland’s early settlers. A visit here supports historical and cultural learning by bringing Norse history to life through real artefacts, models and immersive exhibitions covering Viking seafaring, North Atlantic exploration and Iceland’s settlement. Exhibitions include archaeological finds from the Reykjanes Peninsula, offering a vivid picture of Viking life and culture in the region.
The centrepiece of the museum is Íslendingur (The Icelander), a full-scale replica of a Viking ship that sailed from Iceland to New York to commemorate Leifur Eiríksson’s millennium voyage.
This visit is suitable as a Reykjanes Peninsula add-on (arrival or departure day).
