The MAD Museum

The MAD (Mechanical Art & Design) Museum is the UK’s only permanent exhibitions dedicated to mechanical art. This interactive museum is located in the centre of Stratford-upon-Avon and houses interactive examples of interactive art such as kinetic arts and automata.

Students can explore quirky invention displays that cleverly blend creativity with physics. School groups receive a brief introduction from a staff member and have access to activity packs, exclusive access time, and optional workshops like automata-building, sketching, or photography.

Subject Focuses

• Science & Physics: Mechanics, motion, energy transfer
• Design & Technology: Automata mechanisms, user-centred design
• Art & Creative Media: Sketching exhibits, photography-based observation
