Located of the coast of Normandy in Northern France Pointe du Hoc is a cliff-top of great significance due to heavy German fortifications threatening the D-Day landings. Due to its location overlooking the sea, Pointe du Hoc was considered a strategic objective for the American Army during Operation Overlord.
