Discover the legendary Loreley Plateau, perched 125-metre-high atop the iconic slate rock in the UNESCO Upper Middle Rhine Valley near St Goarshausen.
Loreley Plateau is a barrier-free cultural and landscape park where students can:
- Visit the tourist information centre to experience the Loreley exhibition. An immersive introduction to one of Germany’s most legendary landscapes, it features a six-part multimedia exhibition and a compelling 20-minute 3D film that explores the UNESCO-designated valley, the enduring Loreley legend, local geology, ecology, shipping, viticulture, and cultural heritage.
- Stroll the Mythenpfad (Myth Trail) and reach six panoramic viewpoints offering stunning vistas of the Rhine Gorge. Along the route, they’ll encounter multi-language “Listening Rocks” that bring the Loreley myth to life.
- Engage with the Legend of the Loreley at the new Mythos Hall, under the Gläserner Fels, a stylized glass rock shaped roof reflecting the poem by Heinrich Heine: "…The air is cool and it darkens, and the Rhine flows quietly; the summit of the mountain sparkles in the evening sun…" .
- Encounter the modern statue of the Loreley, a beautiful maiden, either a mermaid or sorceress, sat atop the Loreley rock, combing her long golden hair.
