Museum Boppard is located within the Electoral Castle (Kurfürstliche Burg), a medieval fortress standing above the Rhine Gorge—now part of the UNESCO World Heritage site.
The museum encompasses exhibitions on the castle’s building history, the town’s heritage, its Roman past, and the life of Michael Thonet, a native innovator in bentwood furniture. In addition, rotating exhibitions feature contemporary art, local culture, and partnerships across borders.
