ARTIS-Park Zoo

One of Europe's oldest zoos, and a green world in the heart of the city
Founded in 1838, ARTIS is one of the oldest zoos in Europe, and far more than a place to see animals. Set across a leafy historic park in central Amsterdam, it brings together animals from around the world, monumental architecture, and centuries-old trees and gardens. For a student group, it is a rich, varied day out where wildlife, history and nature all sit side by side.
Students can meet the animals, explore the historic grounds, and discover how a modern zoo works, from conservation and animal care to protecting biodiversity and endangered species. It opens up plenty of natural discussion about the natural world, our relationship with animals, and the role zoos play in protecting life on Earth.
ARTIS also offers a range of educational activities linked to its different themes, all included in the entrance rate, with downloadable worksheets available for each topic. Just ask us for more information and we can help you make the most of the visit for your group.
