ARTIS-Groote Museum

A grand old museum reborn to explore one big question: how is all life connected?
The Groote Museum is one of the oldest museum buildings in the Netherlands. Rather than displaying collections of objects, it explores a single, powerful idea: that humans, animals, plants and microbes are all part of one connected living system, and that we are a part of nature, not separate from it. For students, it is a thoughtful, immersive space that gets them thinking about their own place in the world.
Through striking installations and hands-on experiences, students explore how bodies work, how living things depend on one another, and what connects a human being to the smallest microbe or the largest whale.
ARTIS also offers a range of educational activities linked to its different themes, all included in the entrance rate, with downloadable worksheets available for each topic. Just ask us for more information and we can help you make the most of the visit for your group.
