City Tax Information for Educational Tours

City Tax (also often referred to as Tourist Tax) is commonplace in many cities across Europe and worldwide and is becoming increasingly common.

Below we have compiled the most up to date city tax information we have. In almost all cases, City Tax must be paid on arrival and in many cases, this must be paid in cash. Please budget for this in addition to your tour price.

Please note city taxes can and do often change, so prices quoted below are for guide purposes below and any increased in city tax will be payable by yourselves.

City Tax is payable by all members of your party (unless stated otherwise).

If your travel destination is not listed below, we cannot guarantee a City Tax is not imposed. This form of taxation is becoming increasingly commonplace.

BELGIUM:

Brussels: City tax in Brussels cannot be pre-paid. This must be paid upon arrival, applicable for anyone aged 18+,

4-star €8,13 / 0.85€ per bed per night in the case of dormitory stays.

FRANCE:

Paris: City tax in Paris can no longer be pre-paid. This must be paid upon arrival, applicable for anyone aged 18+,

4-star €8,13 / 3-star €5,53 / 2-star €3,25 / 1-star €2,60 per person, per night.

This does not apply to hotels in Disneyland Resort.

GERMANY

Berlin: Please note that as of 01.01.2025 the city of Berlin charges an additional city tax for travelers who are not a school group to the value of 7,5% on the net overnight room price.
This has to be paid in person at the reception in addition to your tour cost.

School groups will be exempt on the completion of an exemption (we can send you the form to complete and return in advance). College and university groups are no exempt.

ICELAND

Iceland city tax is included in your quoted price and is paid in advance by Adaptable Travel.

ITALY

The tax must be paid to the hotel at check-in.

Rome: Payable for all passengers all year round €3.50 (hostels) / €4.00 (1* hotels) / €5.00 (2* hotels) / €6.00 (3* hotels) / €7.50 (4* hotels) per person per night.

Sorrento: Payable from April until November: €3 per person per night for all hotels (€1.00 pppn for minors aged less than 18yrs).

Florence: Payable for all passengers all year round aged 12-years and over: 1 star: €4.00 per person per night, 2 star: €4.50 per person per night , 3 star: €6 per person per night

Venice: Payable for all passengers/ all year round, €2.00 per person per night for 2-star hotels, €3.50 per person per night for 3-star hotels, €4.50 per person per night for 4-star hotels (50% reduction for minors aged 10-15 years).
