The Scottish Government is to provide funding to subsidise trips to educate pupils about Scottish history. It is hoped the £180,000 fund will encourage school to organize trips to historic sites in Bannockburn, Culloden and Robert Burns' birthplace in Alloway, Ayrshire.
The government hoped that taking learning outside the classroom would help to ensure "history is brought to life" for youngsters. Schools minister Keith Brown, added: "I hope that by helping to bring Burns, battles and Bannockburn to life for Scotland's pupils, we can ensure history continues to deepen our understanding of our nation”.
