Nebrodi: Catafurco Waterfalls

Nebrodi: Catafurco Waterfalls
Show all photos

A nature trail that allows you to stay in close contact with nature and immerse for a few hours in one of the most beautiful unspoilt parts of Sicily. We are on the border between the Nebrodi and Peloritani, in an area that from a geological point of view is one of the oldest places of Sicily.

Here on the heights overlooking the small town of Galati Mamertino, is located one of the most beautiful, characteristic places of the area. This is the waterfall Catafurco, a place of indescribable natural beauty, created by the impetuous descent of the waters of the river San Basilio by a wall nearly 30 feet high, in a background of rough and rugged limestone cliffs that rise to the sky and seem to meet with each other. Over the millennia the swirling waters of the stream has carved the rocks forming the spectacular waterfall, and creating a cavity called Muffler giants like the Ear of Dionysus.
