Hutong Walking Tours

Hutong are a traditional narrow type of alley which are typical of Northern China, originating during the Yuan Dynasty and most commonly associated with Beijing and other cities in Northern China. In the areas surrounding the forbidden city there are tens of thousands of Hutongs which are typically lined with traditional architecture such as residences and courtyards. On this visit you and your students will embark on a guided tour through Beijing’s iconic ancient Hutong areas, your students will get a feel for traditional Chinese life and understand the historical significance of Hutong in the area.
