Located in northeastern Catalonia, the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park is home to over 40 well-preserved volcanic cones and more than 20 lava flows, making it the most significant volcanic landscape on the Iberian Peninsula. The park offers pupils the opportunity to explore unique geological formations, including the Croscat and Santa Margarida volcanoes, and the Fageda d'en Jordà beech forest, which grows atop ancient lava flows. It is unique in that there are residential settlements within the park, so it is also a good destination to study Park management techniques.

Guided fieldwork and visits to the Espai Cràter museum in Olot provide an immersive educational experience.
