Museum of the National Bank of Belgium

Housed in a historic former bank building in central Brussels, the Museum of the National Bank of Belgium gives your students a lively, interactive insight into how money and central banking work. It operates in a similar way to the Bank of England. On a 60-90 minute guided tour, your group can explore:

• The history of the National Bank and the evolution of means of payment
• The role and functions of a central bank
• The role of money in the economy, and how financial markets and payment systems operate
• Money as a cultural phenomenon

When booking, you can choose whether the tour focuses on economics, history or a combination of both. That makes it a great fit for Economics, Business and History students alike. Your students will also come away understanding how Belgium’s central bank compares with the UK system, and its place within the eurozone’s Eurosystem.
