Within the City of Krakow there are a variety of academic institutions, one of them being the Academy of Physical Education. The academy orginated in 1893, as a department of the Jagiellonian University. However in 1951 it became an independant insitution of higher education and now holds its own campus. Within the Academy there are plentiful classrooms, laboratory spaces and a huge sports hall.
