March 9, 2010

Dozens of students from across Wales have recently returned from an eye opening trip to Polish prisoner of war camp Auschwitz.

As part of the ‘Lessons from Auschwitz’ scheme, two students from every school and college in the country visited Auschwitz-Birkenau to learn from the horrors of the World War II camp.

Education Minister Leighton Andrews said the horrors of the Holocaust should never be forgotten.

“This project gives students the opportunity to learn about a harrowing but crucial chapter of European history,” he said.“

Lessons from Auschwitz gives young people the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge of what happened during this terrible period.
