Goonhilly Earth Station
Gonnhilly has cemented itself in Space Industry over the years, becoming one of the most recognised names in its field. Since its involvement in the first trans-Atlantic TV transmission in 1962 it has bared witness to technological comings and goings such as Eutelsat and Inmarsat as well as playing a role in the birth of the internet connecting the USA to Europe. It has broadcast some of the most famous live transmissions to viewers in the UK such as the 1969 Moon landings and the huge Live-Aid concert in 1985. This visit is an excellent opportunity to deliver STEM subjects with engaging activities from inspiring talents. Witnessing some of the most famous landmarks in television, technological and human history if the walls at Goonhilly could talk they would have some incredible stories!
