By 2020, 80% of the UK workforce must have at least a college education or an apprenticeship qualification. This is according to PM Gordon Brown who spoke recently at a Q&A in Manchester. Mr Brown stated “We’re competing with the best in the world”, leading for the need in a higher educated and better prepared workforce.
With scepticism from some parts, Mr Brown urged that a new government backed 6 month internship programme would ensure graduates would find employment, which in turn would allow mean less of a burden on Jobseeker’s Allowance.
