Palazzo Ducale (Doge's Palace)

Near to the famous Ponte dei Sospiri, the magnificent Doge’s Palace is one of the most important buildings in Venice and is its very symbol. Once the centre of power from where the Venetian Republic was ruled, the Palace is now a major landmark with wonderful art from the likes of Titian, Tintoretto and Veronese. It is an exhaustive collection of smaller museums, a courtyard, and a trove of over-the-top ornamentation, including frescoed walls, gilded ceilings, and intricately carved statues and friezes.
