Kent College - Paris College Trip Blog March 2012

This was the first trip abroad that the Beauty students have taken and hopefully it won’t be the last. After a mass of paperwork and gratefully accepted signatures, Level 3 students set off on Monday 12th March, 2012 for three days.

There was a heady mix of both excitement and nerves as we boarded the coach and met our driver, Martin. After a long 7 hour journey and several games of ‘Scattergories’ after, we arrived at our Kyriad hotel. A true epiphany of all things Disney where staff are friendly and helpful.

After unpacking we head on down to the Disney Village via a shuttle bus which runs every ten minutes. A word of advice- this place gets busy! We waited around 40 minutes at the bar (drinkless) to be seated and another half hour to get our meals although the service was great!

Next morning we awake at half six to grab some breakfast as Martin is waiting for us to leave for the heavily anticipated Lancôme seminar. Students from across different colleges gathered patiently for the much anticipated demonstrations by Lancôme Beauty trainers on the famous Rue Saint-Honoré. These were to include the new Genefique products as well as ultrasound demos. Several different colleges are there and we are introduced to the lecturers and the brand. Several advertising campaigns later, we were shown demonstrations in both facials and makeup by the Lancôme professionals. And professional it was. We also had the opportunity to take photos and videos and meet the lecturers at the end if we wanted.

The mammoth task of seeing the beautiful city of Paris then faced us. We had a secret weapon. Angela Owen used to be a Tour Guide and as you can see from the images, we saw a fair bit of the city and all on a shoestring budget which pleased the students. All credit goes to Angela as without her we would not have seen half of the sights. Even down to the way she advised us to wait as a group after getting off of the Metro at Trocadero and walking around the corner of the museum to see the epic Tour D’Eiffel. Truly unforgettable……
