Aalsmeer Flower Auction
A remarkable 70% of all the world's flowers are produced in The Netherlands. Aalsmeer is one of the world's largest flower auctions, where millions of flowers are sold daily, most for export overseas. It has a great visitors centre, which gives a bird's eye view of the trading floor. Visits before 9am are recommended to get the best out of the experience.
Drie Ringen Brewery
Located in the nearby city of Amersfoort, which has a brewery industry dating back to the 13th century, Drie Ringen Brewery is a more modern establishment. Students can embark upon a tour, showing the whole brewing and production process of beer. There will also be a Q&A sessions, allowing for a more detailed analysis of the business.
Royal Delftware Factory
The nearby town of Delft is home to the world famous Royal Delftware. You can enjoy a tour around the factory in Delft, including a presentation on the history of Delfware and the production process. You can then explore the production process from modelling to painting.
Rotterdam Port
Rotterdam is home to one of the world's busiest commercial shipping ports, and the busiest in Europe. You can enjoy a unique guided tour by "Spido" glass boat round Europe's leading port. Pupils will get to see shipyards, docks and grain-silos - a great opportunity to see export in action.
